FAQs

What is the difference between the Athletic Grant-In-Aid Budget and the Cost-Of-Attendance Budget?

Per NCAA rules, the athletic grant-in-aid budget will not include transportation and miscellaneous expenses which the cost-of-attendance budget does.

Athletic Scholarship awards and percentages are awarded are figured using the Athletic Grant-In-Aid Budget.

How do I cover additional costs such as transportation and miscellaneous expenses?

All domestic student-athletes are encouraged to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be considered for additional funding sources. Regardless of need, all students can qualify for non-need based Stafford Loans to assist in covering their educational costs. You can complete the FAFSA on their web site.

How do I apply for summer athletic aid?
Student-Athletes need to apply for athletic summer funding through Academic Services in the Athletic Department.
How much summer athletics aid will I qualify for?
Per NCAA rules, student-athletes are eligible for summer aid that is equivalent to their academic year athletics aid package. The award amount is based on each student-athletes summer enrollment (# of credits and weeks).
How do I apply for other financial aid to cover my summer school expenses?
To be considered for financial aid you must have a FAFSA on file for the 2008-2009 academic year. In addition, you must complete the Summer 2009 Financial Aid Application to be awarded financial aid.

I am on a partial scholarship, how is my aid processed?

Our athletic aid process for students receiving partial scholarships is documented in detail in the following PDF document.

How do I receive my monthly stipends?

Stipends are divided in 5 equal disbursements each semester. A student-athlete must be cleared per NCAA rules to receive such aid. Stipends are either mailed or directly deposited into the student-athlete's checking account. Per Federal and Institutional Policies, students cannot pick up checks. Students are highly encouraged to set-up "direct deposit" on their myWSU account to expedite the receipt of monthly stipends. To set up direct deposit, visit myWSU and click on the "finances" tab to enter your checking account information for processing.
